[Cwyn Eats] Now
Well here we are at almost a whole year old and Cwyn is still such a great eater. She is still on a solid diet of breastmilk and her food is always eaten after a full feeding of milk. She is still breastfeeding about 5-6 times a day and she eats three "meals" and two snacks. A typical day for her consists of nursing first thing when she wakes up in the morning around 7:30 or 8:00. Breakfast is right around a half hour later. She usually eats any of the following: oatmeal with some applesauce mixed in, cereal (Cheerios), yogurt, fruit, eggs, pancakes with a little peanut butter (no syrup), toast with jelly and then water with breakfast. She always gets a grain and fruit no matter what she eats for the day. In the last week I've started offering her whole milk but she's still not as into that as she is juice or water so for now we aren't pushing that either. She nurses again before her nap at 10 and then has a snack. This is usually crackers (real fruit teddy grahams or graham crackers) and a cheese. She gets some juice at this point. After nap she nurses and then has lunch, usually between 12 and 12:30. Lunches consist of protein, fruit, veggie and grain. Lunchtime is her favorite and the choices for lunch vary greatly. Some of her favorites are egg salad sandwiches with tuna, pb&j, soup with grilled cheese, spaghetti o's, turkey and cheese, quesadillas with chicken, chicken nuggets and omelets. Her favorite lunchtime fruits are apples and bananas but sometimes she eats strawberries or cantaloupe too. Her favorite veggies for lunch are cucumbers, carrots and broccoli with corn and green beans being close behind. She always has bread, noodles, or rice with lunch and some kind of meat. Usually depends on the day, how busy we are, what she had for breakfast, and what we'll have for dinner. She usually has the rest of her juice from snack for lunch. She nurses again before her next snack which is anywhere between 2 and 4 depending on naptime and when we'll have dinner. This snack varies between a fruit, hard boiled eggs or a yogurt. She drinks water for this snack. Dinner for us, depending on what extra curricular we have that night, is anywhere between 5:30 and 7. If we eat dinner on the early end of the night she won't nurse again until bed but if we eat later she nurses before dinner. She eats whatever we eat for dinner. Her favorites are casseroles, steak and potatoes (venison steak no less, that's our girl!), tacos, and spaghetti but she'll eat whatever we give her. After dinner she has a bath, nurses again, and is in bed by 7:00 on nights we don't have anything or by 8:00 on other nights. So that's where we are now with her eating. She is a champ and I've never seen her turn down food unless she's sick. BLW has also helped her learn quickly how to hold and use utensils and that has been fun to watch. She has always been exclusively breastfed without a bottle (minus a few times) so we never had to transition to a sippy cup, though I've heard BLW helps with that, as well. Hopefully this helps anyone looking for foods to try with their babies or wondering how to feed their "toddler" (can't believe I just called her that!) Thanks for reading and enjoy this pic of Miss Cwyn eating a hard boiled egg and some yogurt!
